Greg Summers is a Professional Horseman that lives in Bixby, Oklahoma where he manages his horse training operation, Summers Performance Horses. Although Greg is a master horseman with thirty plus years of experience in various disciplines, his passion for Polo and starting two year old horses stands out.
He supplies riding horses to a wide range of clients like those looking for young horses ready to be developed into disciplines and those finished ready for competitive performance.
In 2005, Greg joined and supported the Arrowhead Polo Club which has just recently this year, merged with the United States Polo Assc. (USPA) Tulsa Polo Club. He manages the club’s day to day activities and states his passion is to help people who want to truly show the dedication that is needed to helping themselves grow in their skills. While managing the club, training horses and preparing students for the next challenge, he also raises a young talented rider, his daughter who is 12 years old this year. His beautiful wife Karen also supports the riding programs and trains beginner level students.
Summers’ states “The lifestyle of setting your own schedule, riding and ranching day in day out and making finished horses, is what I love about this profession”. Greg is originally from West Frankford, Illinois and plans to continue to live in Bixby long term and develop riders of all disciplines.
In 2019, Greg received two prestigious awards from Texas. The “Sportsmanship Award” for demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and team spirt, and the “Best String Award”, 3-6 goal handicap for leasing and use of his trained polo horses and “Most Valuable Player Award” during the Texas Arena League’s matches this past spring, where ten teams competed. Summer’s handicap is a “1 handicap” outdoor and a “2 handicap” indoor.
